How have we gotten to where 2 out of 3 Americans are overweight to obese?
Fast food restaurants are everywhere. Convenience foods line the shelves at supermarkets. Advertisers continually remind us that whatever meal or snack we are craving is available whenever we want it. The age of technology has resulted in much more time spent sitting and an overall decrease in physical activity.
The combined effects of these changes have led to an epidemic of weight gain and obesity with no age or stage in life being immune. We are saturated with the latest diet and workout options…yet do any really deliver long-lasting results?
Obviously what we are doing isn’t working!
Most typical diets boast of quick weight loss so they are appealing because most of us want instant results – I mean, we get impatient waiting on a pop tart to toast! But what you may have experienced (a time or two) is that these fad diets throw you back into the frustrating “yo-yo diet cycle” because you do lose weight but that weight comes from both fat and muscle.
Losing your muscle slows down your metabolism and your metabolism doesn’t burn like it did before.
So you gain the weight right back. Sound familiar? If you want to learn ways that I regained my pre-baby shape (and better!) even after having 4 babies in 6 years and feel better in my 30s than I did in my 20s then start here.
