Most Peanut Butters have about about 3-4 grams of sugar per serving. 4 grams of sugar are equivalent to 1 tsp. And every 1 gram of sugar is equal to 4 calories. So do the math. If your favorite Peanut Butter has 3 grams of sugar that’s 12 calories that are coming from that serving. Most of us don’t stick to the serving size when it comes to Peanut Butter, so most likely you are getting more calories from sugar than this!

This may seem like a very small amount of sugar and calories to be worrying about, but when you add up the small amounts of sugar in your condiments, sandwich meat, bread, sodas, teas, sauces, microwave popcorn, and more it adds up to alot!

Natural peanut butters contain only peanuts and salt. In regards to natural peanut butters, we have often heard people say, “I hate the oil separation! I don’t want to have to stir my peanut butter!” This is just one more area where you will have to make the choice for convenience and something you are just “used to” vs. better health. It’s not the big things in life that hurt our health and waistline. It’s the little things. If we really care about our health, at some point we have to make a change!
